Meet the Author

Pastor Galen and his wife, Kay, came to Citizen Church (formerly known as Copper Pointe Church) in 1981 and served as Student Pastors until 1993. In June of 1993, Galen stepped into the position of Senior Pastor. Eleven years ago he started the journey of transforming a seventy-five-year-old traditional church into a progressive, creative, and relevant church of all ages reaching a young generation, which led to having one of the largest Student Ministries in the nation. Galen's practical and life-applicable teaching is a facet of his ministry that helps define Citizen Church. His experience and wisdom, coupled with continual passion and excitement, propel us forward to reach beyond our walls into our city, across the border, and around the world. 

Now, after more than four decades in ministry, Pastors Galen and Kay have transitioning their role as Senior Pastors to their oldest son Dustin and his wife, Mandy. Pastor Dustin has served on staff and worked alongside his parents for the last 14 years. Dustin and Mandy have both played an integral part in the vision and life of Citizen Church. As Pastor Dustin assumed the role as Senior Pastor in January of 2020, Pastor Galen has taken on the new role as the Global Oversight Pastor of the church. We are so excited for what the future holds. We believe that the best is yet to come!

Galen was born and raised in west Texas, while his wife, Kay was born and raised in Alabama. Galen and Kay have been married for 40 years and have three boys (Dustin, Jonathan and Brandon), and nine grandchildren.
